All children 5 16 years is entitled to go for a public school.

Children start in Primary Education (4 5 years).

And go for Secondary Education (11 years).

Comprehensive School are, in general, neighborhood schools that welcome children in your area.

 

 

There are 4 categories of public schools in regular education

Community Schools Voluntary-aided Schools

Voluntary Controlled Schools Foundation schools

Funded, fully or partially, by the Local Education Authority (LEA).

Sixth-Form Schools that have advanced courses (A-level) 2 years (12 and 13 years).

For students aged 16 to 18 years

At the end of each test two years ago.

Parents can choose the secondary schools for their children

The alternatives are:

Extended and specialist schools.

Community special schools and foundation special schools.

Faith schools.

Grammar schools

City Technology Colleges (CTCs)

Academies

Maintained boarding schools.

Private Schools

 

Higher education

University courses usually have a duration of 3 or 4 years, with some subjects that require more than seven years.
